The layering system from Schöffel offers you the flexibility you need to be active outdoors whatever the weather. Our clothing consists of several layers that are technically perfectly coordinated.

The base layer wicks moisture away from the skin, the insulation layer keeps you warm or cools you down and the outer layer protects you from wind, weather and sun. This system ensures that you can always wear the right combination, regardless of whether it is cold, rainy, warm, sunny or stormy. This keeps you dry, warm and comfortable, no matter what Mother Nature has in store for you.

The key to layering is the perfect interplay of the individual layers. That's why we at Schöffel have designed each layer to work both individually and as part of an overall system. We have optimized the ventilation channels, features and fit of each layer so that your outfit is perfectly tailored to your activity.

Your breathable base layer

Your body temperature rises during exertion. To prevent your body from overheating, you start to sweat - this is a normal and perfectly sensible reaction of your body. If you are not wearing functional clothing, your shirt will soak up your sweat and cause your body to cool down. A functional shirt as a base layer is therefore important to wick moisture away from your skin and ensure breathability. Functional clothing made from merino wool is particularly suitable for the first layer of the onion look.

Your warming insulation layer

An insulating layer is particularly useful if you are doing strenuous activities on very cold days, as the insulating layer retains your body's heat by insulating the air between the layers. Depending on the outside temperature, you can wear up to two layers of insulation. Fleece and softshell jackets are particularly useful here.

Tip: On very cold days, it is advisable to combine insulation layers 1 and 2 to keep your body warm. A fleece jacket should be worn as insulation layer 1 and a down jacket as insulation layer 2 on top.

Your strong outer layer (shell)

The outer layer keeps out everything that comes at you from the outside. Whether it's rain, wind or sun - a suitable outer layer won't let anything get to you. A functional outer layer is usually waterproof or water-repellent. You can choose between softshell and hard shell jackets.

Layering in all areas: from hiking to ski touring

It is important that you adapt your layers of clothing to the weather conditions and the sport in question. You often leave the house early in the morning and the weather conditions change over the course of the day. Then you are ideally equipped with a layering look. It is important that you can fit everything you need during your activity into your rucksack - no problem with Schöffel clothing.

Tip: Always remain flexible and vary your layers. In very hot temperatures you can leave out the insulating layers - in very cold temperatures you can add warming insulating layers.
